Raymond Skowronski Jr., DDS, Named Honoree for Annual Christian Brothers' Dinner

De La Salle Collegiate is pleased to announce that Dr. Raymond Skowronski Jr., a 1974 graduate of the school, has been selected as the honoree for the school's 31st Annual Christian Brothers' Dinner on April 25.

In selecting Dr. Skowronski as the honoree, De La Salle Collegiate President Brother Thomas Lackey, FSC, said, "Dr. Ray Skowronski is a dedicated and loyal alumnus of De La Salle, is outstanding in the field of dentistry; and has a tremendous concern for others. He is, without a doubt, a true Lasallian!"

A past member of the DLS Board of Trustees, Skowronski has been an extremely supportive alumnus of the school for many years.

John Monigold, DLS '66, Director of Alumni Relations at DLS, and the honoree of the 30th dinner, said, "Ray has always been willing to assist in any way. He always ends our conversation with 'Is there anything I can do for you?' "

After graduating from De La Salle, Skowronski attended the University of Detroit, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He continued his education at the University of Detroit School of Dentistry. While at U. of D., Skowronski served as president of Psi Omega, a national dental education fraternity.He was also inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the highest academic honor achievable by any dental student.

Ray realized he had a true passion for dentistry and for teaching, and returned to the U. of D. School of Dentistry faculty until 1988. At the same time, he also served as a prominent faculty member at Oakland University.

In 1983, Dr. Skowronski opened a practice in St. Clair Shores, MI. He moved his growing practice to a new state of the art office in Sterling Heights in 2001. The DLS flag flies proudly outside of his office every day. Recently his peers voted him one of the "Top Dentists" for 2011.

Dr. Skowronski and his wife Mary Ann, have two daughters, Deanna and Bianca, and a son, Raymond, a current freshman at DLS. Both Ray and his wife are extremely active in their community and at St. Lawrence Parish in Utica, where they have been members since 1993.
