What Clear Braces Can Do
Clear braces can achieve many of the same results as traditional orthodontics. It is effective at dealing with:
- Crooked teeth
- Tilted teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Gapped teeth
How Clear Braces Work
Clear braces work using the same basic principles as traditional braces. In response to consistent force, your body will reshape your bones. Your jawbone is especially good at this. When we apply force to your teeth, this creates forces that encourage your body to remove bone from one side of the tooth and build it on the other side. This lets your tooth move.
With traditional braces, the force is applied with wires and brackets. With clear braces, clear plastic aligners apply the forces.
We start your clear braces procedure by imaging your teeth. This image is sent to a computer which then designs a precise sequence of movements that take your teeth from their current configuration to their desired configuration. It then breaks this sequence down into a series ofdiscrete steps, each accomplished by a single aligner. You wear each aligner for one or two weeks, then switch to the next aligner. When you go through all the aligners, your teeth should be in the desired alignment.
Benefits of Clear Braces
Clear braces come with all the health and beauty benefits of traditional braces. In addition, with clear braces, you will enjoy:
- Almost invisible straightening
- Ability to remove aligners for special occasions
- No diet restrictions
- No brackets or wires to clean around
- No painful wires or brackets poking cheeks
Clear braces are essentially invisible and are almost undetectable. You’ll also enjoy that you can take your aligners out if needed. It is advised to wear your aligners for about 22 hours a day to achieve maximum results.
